Baby Shower meets Hot Cocoa Bar

My friend Erin was pregnant with her second, but this time she was having a girl. That meant we needed to throw her a shower, but this time with lots of pink involved.

I wanted to do something a little different and my sister Kristen mentioned the idea of a Hot Chocolate Bar. I loved it and went with it!

The toppings included: Jr Mints, Crushed Candy Canes, Mini Marshmallows, Crushed Reese Cups, White Chocolate Chips, Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips, Red Hots, Toffee, Cinnamon, Cayenne Pepper, Whip Cream, Sprinkles, and more. We also had some sweet breads and fruit to munch on.
Of course I was sure to leave out some signs with directions, in case anyone was feeling a little timid about all the chocolate excitement.

In the entry area, we had a little activity to start the mingling. Predict the baby's name. No one guessed right.
During the shower, we played a game of Celebrity Babies. I normally like to do an activity that includes advice or something of the sort, but this was her second baby so we only needed fun. We had a good time trying to figure out who went with who. It was pretty obvious who has kept up with the People Magazine!! (I got the game and color ideas from this hostess.)
After presents were opened and all the conversations came to a close, we had some hot cocoa favors for everyone to take home. There was a large basket of them, but I forgot to take a picture. Each flavor of cocoa had a different color tag to indicate what kind of hot chocolate you were taking home. It was such a fun shower! I think I'll have to use this idea for another get together next winter.
